Clubs & Activities
Each term, we offer a wide range of extra-curricular clubs and activities, as well as pre- and post- school day supervision to help working parents.
Breakfast Club takes place every day in the school dining room from 7.45 am to 8.15 am. Children may be brought to the dining room, without prior booking, where they will be able to choose from cereals, fruit, yoghurt and toast with various spreads. Mrs Mayhead supervises the children and takes them to their classrooms at 8.15 am. There is a daily charge of £3 for this, invoiced in arrears.
Prep School children may also attend supervised homework sessions at the end of the school day (4.15 pm). These are run by Oakwood staff from 4.15 to 5.15 pm (‘Prep’) and from 5.15 until 6 pm (‘Late Prep’). Charges for these may be found in the After School Clubs booklet. These may be booked on a regular basis at the start of each term, or you can book your son or daughter in on an ad-hoc basis for individual days by contacting the school office.
The exciting range of lunchtime and after school activities changes every term. They may include: fencing, circus skills, magic club, backgammon, fun fitness, tennis coaching, judo, Lego club, art, pottery, ballet, multi-sports, cookery, Minecraft club, fun Spanish, rugby/hockey/netball/cricket skills, dodgeball, Oakwood reporters, crafts, sewing, Glee Club, learning to sign and football training with Portsmouth Football Club. The cost of each club varies but typically ranges from £35 to £65 per term. Lunchtime activities take place once the children have eaten their meal, and after school activities take place from 4.15 pm until 5.15 pm.
Individual and small group music lessons are also available during the school day in any instrument. Usually, these lessons begin in Year 2 but children with prior knowledge may begin before this stage. More information on this is available from the school office.
