The Oakwood School Nursery welcomes children from two and a half. The Nursery is accommodated in its own cosy building close to the Pre-Prep part of the school.
Great care is taken to welcome and settle each child and there is a wonderful family atmosphere in the Nursery as well as a great sense of fun.
The staff in Nursery are all qualified and experienced and the team is led by Victoria de la Grange.
The Nursery operates a 'Key Person' system which helps both the child and the parent with continuity and a sense of belonging. It also helps both staff members and parents to build good rapport with each other.
We ask that children joining the Nursery are potty trained and dry, although we are able to cope with the odd accident.
The children take part in lots of activities, including dance, P.E., music lessons and swimming, all taught by specialist teachers. Cookery is also popular with delicious treats being whipped up every other week!
A large emphasis is placed on building a solid foundation of social skills and a love of learning, which enables the children to settle confidently to school life.
There is a secure garden with outdoor play facilities, as well as a covered play area ensuring that children can venture outside in most weathers. Nursery pupils make full use of the school facilities such as the gymnasium, theatre and wonderful playing fields.
Our Nursery pupils grow all sorts of fruit, vegetables and flowers and regularly take their produce to Chef Christine, who makes it into lunch!
Children in the Nursery use the fabulous Woodland Walk on a regular basis, so that they can explore the environment around them. They also love helping to look after the school chickens, doves, guinea pigs and tortoise, and enjoy visiting the magical woodland treehouse. We love putting on our coats and hats to get some fresh air, whatever the weather!
