Little Oaks children have two 30 minute P.E. lessons a week, taught by the specialist Games staff. Whilst the emphasis is on making lessons fun and imaginative, the children gain experience in using a variety of sporting equipment in different settings. Their lessons cover fundamental movement skills including: basic movement patterns for running, jumping and hopping, hand eye coordination, striking, throwing, and movement to music. At Oakwood we feel this is an important part of the curriculum. It gives pupils confidence, improves balance and co-ordination and develops both fine and gross motor skills.
Little Oaks pupils have an enormous advantage in being able to use the Oakwood facilities. Lessons can take place in the gymnasium, on the netball/tennis courts, on the extensive playing fields or even in the woods!
