Oakwood School Admissions

Oakwood pupils learning with their teacher

Admissions Information

The majority of children are admitted either into the Little Oaks Nursery at Oakwood from the age of 2½ or into Reception in the September following their 4th birthday. We are always happy to consider children for admission further up the school, if places are available.

Oakwood School is a family school and we are pleased to be academically non selective in our intake, provided that a child can cope with mainstream education.

  • Please contact us in the first instance if you would like to receive a copy of our prospectus. Further details are given under the 'Contact Us' link on this page.
  • Prospective parents are encouraged to visit the school and meet the Head, staff and pupils. We are always pleased to arrange appointments, so that the school can be seen in action.
  • Parents of prospective pupils are welcome to request a taster day for their child (from Reception upwards) before completing the initial application process.
  • Once parents have decided they wish to proceed with an application for a place, they should complete an Application for Admission form (which is sent with the prospectus) and return it to the school with a £75 fee.
Upon receipt of this fee, the school will send parents a welcome pack containing information relating to the admission of their child. A Confirmation of Entry Deposit of £300 is then due to guarantee the place; this is refundable against the final end of term account. If any child is withdrawn after this deposit has been paid, the school reserves the right to charge the first term's fees.
  • Should a particular year group be full, you may register your child on our 'Waiting List' and we will contact you as soon as a place becomes available.
  • Fees are payable in advance and must be received by the first day of term. A full term's notice must be given prior to the removal of a child from the School, otherwise a full term's fees in lieu of notice will be charged. 'Extras' are kept to a minimum and include those activities not taught within the established curriculum such as individual music lessons.
