What did you do before you came to teach at Oakwood?
I worked in London for a range of fashion magazines, taught English as a foreign language to adults and taught Year 1 at a local school.
What qualities are important for a teacher?
Kindness, good listening, positivity and a ready smile.
What are the best ways to encourage and motivate children?
I like to make sure children have a happy and comfortable environment in which to learn. Everybody learns best when they are happy and feeling good about themselves!
As well as teaching, what other activities and roles do you get involved in at school?
I love being involved with outdoor activities and sports - especially running.
What do you think makes Oakwood special?
The relationship the school has with families is very special. The school has a lovely atmosphere as you move through it, which is hard to put your finger on, but is contributed to by everybody who works here.
Tell us about someone or something that inspires you?
People who overcome physical or learning challenges to achieve what they want to do.
What is your favourite time of year at Oakwood?
Summer! We have so much lovely green space at Oakwood and I love seeing the children use it to its full potential.
What would you do if you weren’t a teacher?
I would love to study and work with plants and trees - I would be a gardener!
