What did you do before you came to teach at Oakwood?
I taught at Westbourne House and Barnham School and among other jobs I was a postwoman.
What qualities do you think are important for a teacher?
You have to love your job! Enthusiasm, passion and dedication. The ability to develop relationships with your pupils and to engage them in their learning.
What are the best ways to encourage and motivate children?
Dressing up! Making learning kinesthetic and visual for the children to bring their learning to life. Ensuring learning is purposeful.
What do you think makes Oakwood special?
The family ethos. Everyone cares about each other and it is such a welcoming and friendly place to work.
Tell us about someone who inspires you?
Pink, an amazing, strong and determined woman who is totally unique.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at school?
Walking, talking, socialising with friends, laughing so much that it hurts your face, yoga.
What is one of your favourite Oakwood memories?
Going on the school ski trip.
What is your favourite time of year at Oakwood?
Summer with Sports Day and children receiving awards at Speech Day, always a proud moment for teachers!
What would you do if you weren’t a teacher?
I would love to be a children’s TV presenter or a physiotherapist.
