What did you do before you came to teach at Oakwood?
I was Head of Pre-Prep at a London Prep School and Key Stage 1 Co-ordinator at an inner city London School.
What qualities are important for a teacher?
Enthusiasm, patience, a sense of humour and good organisation.
What is the best way to motivate children?
Through fun, active lessons which encourage and inspire a thirst for learning.
What do you think makes Oakwood special?
Our sense of community, the ‘Oakwood family’, our amazing grounds (which I really appreciate after teaching in London). Oakwood is a really special place to teach.
Tell us about someone who inspires you?
Anyone I read about who has overcome adversity to reach their goal.
What do you enjoy doing when you aren’t at school?
Spending time with family and friends. Family tennis, running or walking with my lovely Tibetan Terrier Ziggy and getting engrossed in books on sunny holidays.
What is your favourite time of year at Oakwood?
Spring with lots of outdoor learning and sunshine!
What would you do if you weren’t a teacher?
Historical research for films and TV programmes.
