Meet the Head
I genuinely believe in the traditional values embedded firmly at the roots of Oakwood. Our children are treated as individuals and provided with a supportive and nurturing environment in which to grow and gain confidence. Alongside this, the school recognises the need to empower the children as learners and to equip them with the tools for their future academic life. I am fortunate to be leading a dedicated team sharing these values.
Oakwood is unique in its ability to combine academic excellence with the opportunity to still enjoy a real childhood. The Pre-Prep and Prep School years are precious and Oakwood recognises this, prioritising the chance to be children yet take risks and experience and achieve more than they ever thought they would.
Personally, I have had the fortunate opportunity of travelling widely and experiencing a happy, quality independent education myself. My passion for travel was something I continued in my initial career as a young teacher, working abroad and experiencing many different cultures and educational systems. Throughout this experience my desire to provide quality education in a warm and caring environment pervaded; to this end, the family ethos and commitment to such an education at Oakwood certainly ring true for me.
In these unprecedented times of COVID-19 and the uncertainty this has brought to each and every one of us, being part of a strong and caring community has never been more important. We are incredibly proud of all we have achieved as a school and the commitment we continue to demonstrate in supporting our Oakwood families. Our focus on providing high quality remote learning and ‘live’ pupil:teacher interaction has ensured pupils of all ages at Oakwood continue to be happy, engaged and active in their learning. The in-school provision for our critical worker families, at times of school closure, has been outstanding and we are proud to be able to offer extended wrap around care and holiday activities within this provision too.
