Friends of Oakwood (FOO)
The FOO at Oakwood School is made up of parents who help organise various fun activities for the children and parents throughout the year. It is not a PTA and does not act as an intermediary between parents and the School.
The FOO was formed:
- to foster friendships between the parents, staff, pupils and all those who come into contact with the School
- to promote and support the School
- to enhance the standards of the School's buildings, grounds and equipment through fundraising activities
- to organise fun events that can be enjoyed by pupils, parents and staff
The FOO hold informal meetings once or twice each half term, to share ideas for school events and to discuss fund-raising methods and projects and equipment that the FOO might fund. The dates and locations for these meetings can be found in the school calendar, on the website and on the school noticeboards. All Oakwood parents are very welcome at these meetings, and minutes of previous meetings can be found in the Parents' Zone area of this website.
Tea and coffee are also provided in the Library after each Friday morning celebration assembly which gives parents a chance to meet and chat.
Many activities are undertaken each year, the highlight of which is the Summer Ball which is traditionally organised by the Year 2 parents. For a full list of events, please see the School calendar.
